Lipids, commonly associated with fats, are a group of biomolecules with low water solubility. Lipids are essential for storing energy, transmitting signals, and creating cellular membranes. Triglycerides, another name for fats, consist of three fatty acids attached to a glycerol. Lipids also encompass hormones and fat-soluble vitamins, making them vital for biological systems.
