Let's learn about BOD!
Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) is the amount of oxygen required by microorganisms, predominantly bacteria, to oxidize organic matter under aerobic conditions. The BOD test is conducted in the dark (to avoid algae growth) at 20 degree celcius and in the presence of an excess of nutrients. This testing is conventionally run for 5 days. The ultimate BOD is ussually reached after 20 days.
