On the Canary Island of
On the Canary Island of La Palma, the Caldera de Taburiente plain, due to its climate and altitude, has been the ideal place for growing tobacco. In 1998, the municipality of Breña Alta was one of the most prominent areas in the cultivation of tobacco and for the activity of the "chinchaleros" or cigar makers, who made the popular cigars from La Palma by hand.
