Recently, the Beijing government unilaterally granted visa-free access to travelers from six countries, including France, Germany, and Italy. We believe it is a move by the Chinese Communist Party CCP to save the tourism industry, which is on the verge of collapse. According to official data released by China, the cumulative number of arrivals to China in the first half of 2023, including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, was only 10 million. In comparison, there were over 340 million arrivals in the first half of 2019. This means that the number of arrivals in the first half of this year is 3% of the number of arrivals in 2019. Among them, only 500,000 were foreigners, while the figure for 2019 was more than 14 million. The number of inbound tourists received by China's travel agencies in the first quarter of this year was 52,000, while the figure for the same time in 2019 was 3.7 million.
