Methicillin resistant Staphylococci, particularly methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP), pose challenged for physicians and veterinarians in the treatment of their patients. In this video I explain the mechanism of methicillin resistance, and how methicillin resistant strains are unaffected by beta-lactamase inhibitors such as clavulanic acid.
