Review: Impressive Pappano , Annoying Audiences

This 27-CD set makes an excellent case for Pappano's work with the Orchestra of The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, offering a wide range of symphonic and choral works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Mahler, Bruckner, Verdi, Rossini, Britten, Bernstein, Respighi and others in some surprisingly successful performances. That said, the bronchial audiences in these mostly live recordings take some getting used to.
