In today's video, we are going to talk about QNH, QFE, and Altimeter settings.

I'm going to show you how can you calculate the QNH knowing the QFE and vice versa.

You are going to see how you can solve real Pilot Exam Questions regarding the pressure references.

In order to understand today's content we need to know that the QNH is the pressure at the mean sea level (MSL), the QFE is the pressure at the Airport, and that the pressure decreases if you go up and decreases if you go down.

If you know the Pressure and the Elevation of your airport you simply have to calculate how many Hpa of a difference there are between your Airfield and the Mean Sea Level.

According to the standard atmosphere, 1 Hpa equals 27 feet, so if you take your airport elevation and you divide it by 27 you will know how many Hpa there are between the Runway and the Mean Sea Level.

In order to calculate the QNH you simply need to add the pressure difference, that you have just calculated, to the QFE.

It is very important that you read very carefully your question because, for example, sometimes the Airport Elevation is expressed in Meters, so in order to solve the problem you first need to convert the meters to feet and start from there.
