SPRING IN PICO AND LEAVING THE ISLAND | Life in the Azores

It is spring in the Azores. The vibrant colours of new leaves, flowers and numerous rainbows, the strong scent of blooming trees, the first unique sounds of the Cory's Shearwaters at night and the first sightings of Blue Whales passing by the islands are making this time of the year very special.
Despite the welcoming change of warming sunshine spring is actually the coldest time of the year here in the Azores and so thanks to some strong North winds and heavy rain we recently had the rare sight of a snowy volcano, which only happens a handful of times per year.

I hope you can feel the magic of Pico in spring through the screen and enjoy sitting with me by the ocean as I'm sharing what I have been up to these last couple of weeks.
