JUSTIN JEFFERSON IS HIM, Old Man Patrick Peterson still has INTs left in his tank, and the Vikings are 8-1 as Minnesota rallied again for a remarkable, improbable 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills.
Peterson intercepted Josh Allen with 1:12 left in overtime to finally end a sloppy, yet thrilling back-and-forth game between two of the NFL's best teams, in which Minnesota rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit.
"Look at us now. Look at us now." said Peterson postgame. The critics still aren't listening, though. As the Vikings open week 11 as home dogs against the Dallas Cowboys. Screw you, Vegas.
Unlike Vegas, Bills QB Josh Allen loves the Vikings—he gifted Patrick Peterson two interceptions (one to end the game), and fumbled a snap with under a minute to go, as the Bills attempted to run out the clock. But Eric Kendricks pounced on the ball in the endzone to give the Vikings the lead and a likely regulation win, but Allen and the Bills drove the field in 40 seconds to tie the game with field goal and send the game to overtime.
The Vikings would be 7-2 were it not for Justin Jefferson, who had 10 catches for 193 yards and an incredible, game-saving one-handed grab on 4th and 18 to keep the Vikings alive, and overcome Greg Joseph's XP miss and the referees, who likely had the Bills in a multi-leg parlay. Officials never reviewed Gabe Davis' 20-yard catch on Buffalo's final drive of regulation—replays showed that the ball touched the ground on what was ruled a catch at the Vikings 40 with 17 seconds remaining.
At 8-1, Minnesota matches its best record through nine games since 2009, and extended its win streak to seven games. It was the Vikings' fifth win this season when trailing with 2 1/2 minutes or less. Winning is awesome.
"Losing sucks," said Allen. "It sucks this way even more."
