We have been witnessing shocking
We have been witnessing shocking price rises for weeks and months.
The forint has been losing value in real free-falls.
No one sees the end of inflation yet, but in 2023 the world is predicting a recession, an economic downturn, the effects of which will of course be felt here at home.
The war between Russia and Ukraine also has many negative economic consequences, not to mention the uncertainty surrounding the thousands of billions of euros in aid withheld by the European Union.
And although the Hungarian government is trying to please the population with relentless cuts in utility bills and price freezes on certain products, we the people are of course paying the price for all this, but indirect way.
On the above issues too, it is worth being clear that the causes and consequences of the increasingly negative economic spiral are not necessarily interpreted in the way that the government's propaganda machine has been pushing them. For this interpretation we invited György Surányi, economist and university professor.
In 2014, Sándor Friderikusz invited economist and university professor László Békesi to his programme following an article published in Élet és Irodalom. And although that conversation was recorded eight years ago, it seems as if it was recorded in these days: In fact, László Békesi has predicted all the economic and financial phenomena that we are now suffering.
The recent interview with György Surányi and this conversation with László Békés from 2014 almost correspond to each other.
