Piston Replacement on Wartsila RTFlex Engine l High Oil Mist Alarm in Crankcase l Marine Engineer

An emergency replacement of a piston on our Main Engine because of High Oil mist alarm. Checked Main Bearing, Crankshaft Bearing and Crosshead bearing and found that all are in normal condition and no signs of overheating.As to maintenance and trouble shooting manual, the cause is possible from the bearings. That is why they decide to chance the Piston and found out that there is a hole on the Piston crown where the smoke from combustion passes and going directly to the piston rod and to crankcase.
