Arc fault – Effects mitigation measures in air-insulated medium-voltage switchgear

The occurrence of an internal arc fault in a well-designed, type-tested, correctly installed, and operated switchgear is improbable – but not impossible. Potential consequences of arc flash incidents on medium voltage switchgear and available active measures with their effects on the availability of the electrical equipment will be presented.
