After 17 games on the season many basketball fans are already writing rookie #3 overall pick and expected rookie of the candidate Scoot Henderson off after appearing in just 8 of those games. I never expected to write a Stunted Growth feature on Henderson, certainly not this soon, because for me he was my pick after of course the generational Wembanyama to have the most successful career. And to be clear, this is not a Growth Stunt in it’s full form or exactly. This is mainly to provide clarity on why basketball fans feel the way they do, and a chance to follow the career of a guy who believe it or not, I still think has a hall of fame potential career in front of him, barring he can stay on the floor. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t understand where fans are coming from in their frustrations with Henderson, because his play so far has been surprisingly poor and a shock seeing how ready he seemed even years ago leaving high school, certainly in the G League and right up to the point the season began. Facts are he’s not playing as advertised, at 8ppg 4 assist and nearly as many turnovers, 2 rebounds as athletic as he is, 35% from the field, and 22% from 3.
