Spring is here and its time to get the lawn looking green. Only problem is you have these random spots that appear to be dead..... Or are they? Lawn stress dormancy can occur throughout the spring, summer or fall. Nutrient deficiencies coupled with lack of water can stress the lawn out just enough to send the lawn into dormancy. The dormancy occurs as a defense mechanism. The grass can live up to 2 months in this state during times of drought. This can be a frustrating task to fix. Watch my video and I'll show you How to repair Brown Dead Grass Dormancy spots.
Dead Spots in my lawn after fertilizer application can occur if you haven't had a sufficient amount of water prior to the application. The fertilizer starts to "burn" the grass because the roots have already stopped uptaking nutrients and water as a natural progression towards dormancy. A mixture of Calcium, Potassium and ammonium nitrates must be used to wake the lawn up.
