The final surviving firefighter who was seriously hurt in a massive Loudoun County house explosion is back home with his family.

Sterling Volunteer Firefighter Brian Diamond was released Wednesday afternoon, after more than a month of recovering in the Washington Hospital Center.

Diamond received an emotional welcome home from his colleagues outside the station before he was escorted home.

“There's no other explanation that I could have gotten out of that entire ordeal except for God," said Diamond. "I was down in that basement and I said a prayer and you know, you know just God got me out of that and there's no other way."
