I wanted to try a
I wanted to try a further experiment on 80m to see how well a half wave end fed antenna will perform against my existing 80m dipole and vertical antenna..
The result so far for the EFW is looking positive. The signal reception in some directions is definitely better or at minimal equal to my existing vertical on 40m .
On 80m, the reception is again looking slightly better than the Dipole with the new End Fed Antenna but it's early days to be able to Fully analyse the findings.
SWR on the 1/2 wave 80m EFW is showing a maximum of 1:2 on 80,40, 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10m with no ATU required.
The Transformer/balun is 49:1
the element length is 39m
I have not yet tried a counterpoise but probably will experiment with this at a later date.
the feed line I used was 50ohm coax
