Celebrating Blakey: The Messenger Legacy interview with Ralph Peterson and Bill Pierce

Ralph Peterson and Bill Pierce talk about their experiences being in the Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and the upcoming concert Celebrating Blakey: The Messenger Legacy on October 10 in the Berklee Performance Center.

The Messenger Legacy is an elite lineup of former members of one of jazz's most influential bands, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. This configuration features bassist Reggie Workman, alto saxophonist Donald Harrison, trumpeter Brian Lynch, tenor saxophonist Billy Pierce, pianist Donald Brown, and drummer Ralph Peterson.  The concert will also feature the Berklee Jazz Messenger Big Band that will be made up primarily by students.
