Silverado 2500HD thermostat fix 2011-2016 LML Duramax

I have a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LTZ 4x4 with the venerable 6.6 liter LML Duramax diesel. I had a check engine light come on and checked it out to be a low coolant temperature DTC.
