The family of Bruce Willis
The family of Bruce Willis announced yesterday that the Hollywood legend has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. It was made public last spring that Willis was retiring from acting due to struggles with a cognitive condition called aphasia, which impedes a person's ability to speak and write. Announcing the latest sad development in Willis' state of health, his family said it was a "relief to finally have a clear diagnosis", and thanked fans for the "incredible outpouring of love" that Willis had received since his condition was made public.
On 17 May 1993, the iconic Willis was joined by his action-hero brethren and business partners Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger at the opening of Planet Hollywood in London's Leicester Square. Stallone was the first to arrive, along with model Jennifer Flavin. The pair were closely followed by Arnie and his wife, Maria Shriver. Then finally came Bruce Willis and his wife, actress Demi Moore. "I want to thank you all for coming out here and making such a mess," said the Die Hard star, who had flown in from Los Angeles. He was due to fly back to LA later that night to resume filming for his new picture, Color of Night. Moore had flown in from Japan. After posing together on a podium and waving to fans, Stallone, Willis, and Schwarzenegger were each awarded a wooden bust of William Shakespeare by the Lord Mayor of Westminster.
