On your next trip to Korea, a tour of Taejongdae Park will help you restore your inner peace.

Located along the (direction) edge of Gyeongsangnam-do, Taejondae Park is full of pine forests and stunning rocky cliffs. Legend has it Taejondae Park is named for King Taejong Muyeol, a 7th-century king who practiced archery in the area. You won’t find royal archers while sightseeing in Taejongade Park today, but you will see a working lighthouse, a theme park, and an observatory. For a special treat, make it a point to visit the observatory on a clear day—from it, you can see all the way to Tsushima Island, Japan.

Visitors can hike along trails that wind through over 200 kinds of evergreen trees. Pay your respects at one of the temples nestled in the depths of the forest, and then make your way down to the rocky beaches to watch the tide come in.
