A: Hey Trevor.
B: Oh, hey Cheryl. How's your day going?
A: So far, so good. Just prepping for a class. You?
B: Same. Did you get some lunch?
A: Yeah. I had a burrito. You?
B: Tuna sandwich.
A: Actually, there's something I want to ask you.
B: Yeah? What about?
A: Did you just ask me about what I had for lunch because you were actually curious?
B: Of course. Why else would I ask?
A: Oh, OK. No I... It's just that, I keep getting that same question over and over again. Like, almost everyone I run into. I know they're just making small talk, but it's funny. Everyone seems so keen on finding out what I ate.
B: Well, I guess you could think of it as small talk. But for us, it's more or less how we greet each other. So, when we ask that, it's effectively saying like "How are you?".
A: Oh~ Is that right?
B: Not always, but most of the time. Yes.
