Chemistry lecture introducing some exceptions to the octet rule. While the octet rule is a useful generalization, it is still a generalization and will have many exceptions. Most exceptions fall into one of three categories: (1) Incomplete octets, (2) expanded octets, and (3) odd-electron molecules. Examples are given for each of these three popular exceptions.
