How to Deal with a Fire Emergency

Be familiar with your employer’s emergency action plan, which discusses such issues as how to report and respond to a fire, and how to ensure patient safety. Prepare in advance by remembering the acronym R.A.C.E., which spells out the steps to follow when responding to a fire emergency. These steps are Rescue, Alarm, Confine, and Extinguish. Don’t attempt to use a fire extinguisher if you have not been trained; leave it to the experts.
