Magic Mouse is super easy to connect to your Mac when it’s brand new, but if you’re given a mouse that’s already paired with another computer, getting it to work with your Mac takes an extra step. There are two ways to reset connections on your Magic Mouse, and we’ll cover both in this video. The easy way - when you have access to the computer that’s currently paired with the mouse. If you have access to the computer that’s currently paired with the mouse, open your system settings, navigate to Bluetooth settings, and locate the mouse you’re about to reset. Right-click the mouse and choose “forget”, then confirm you want your computer to forget this connection. After this your mouse reset and it’ll become available under “nearby devices” on any computers that are in close proximity. The manual way for resetting when you don’t have access to the computer that’s currently paired with the mouse Sometimes you’ll be handed a mouse that’s already paired with a computer, but you don’t have access to that computer. This just happened to me the other week when our IT support gave me a mouse to use with my work computer. The problem was, this was a used mouse that was already paired with a computer somewhere, but I had no way of knowing which computer and where. To manually reset your Magic Mouse connections, hold down the mouse like you’re clicking something. While holding it down, turn on the mouse, and keep holding down the click button. This will reset the connections. On older Magic Mouse 1 models you’ll see the indicator light start blinking when the connections have been reset. On the newer Magic Mouse 2 models there is no indicator light, but you’ll see the mouse become available under “Nearby devices” on your Mac.
