The Spanish peseta is a former currency of Spain that was in circulation from 1869 to 2001. Since 1999 in non-cash payments, and since 2002 in cash circulation, the Spanish peseta has been replaced by the Euro with an exchange rate of 166.386 pesetas for 1 euro.

The 1982 World Cup was the 12th edition of the World Cup, the final of which was held from June 13 to July 11, 1982 in Spain. 24 teams took part in the tournament. The Italian national team became the champion for the third time in its history, beating the German national team in the final. The Italian striker Paolo Rossi was the best scorer and the best player.
For the first time in the history of the World Cup, post-match penalties were held to determine the winner at the play-off stage in the event of a tie after extra time. In the famous semi-final match, the German national team beat the French team on penalty kicks. Another memorable match of the championship was the sensational victory of the Italians against the Brazilians (who had won four matches out of four) in the second group stage, which was achieved thanks to a hat-trick by Paolo Rossi.
