Learning theory describes how students
Learning theory describes how students receive, process, and retain knowledge during learning. Cognitive, emotional, and environmental influences, as well as prior experience, all play a part in how understanding, or a world view, is acquired or changed and knowledge and skills retained.
There are five primary educational learning theories:
Behaviorism
Cognitive
Constructivism
Humanism
Connectivism.
Additional learning theories include transformative, social, and experiential.
Adults are characterized by maturity, self-confidence, autonomy, solid decision-making, and are generally more practical, multi-tasking, purposeful, self-directed, experienced, and less open-minded and receptive to change.
All these traits affect their motivation, as well as their ability to learn.
