Pandit Chitresh Das' world-renowned kathak training

Pandit Das empowering young girls through the art of kathak by pushing boundaries - physically, mentally, culturally, mathematically, and spiritually.

The Chhandam Youth Dance Company is the only pre-professional kathak youth dance company and leadership program outside of India.  Students must audition and undergo a rigorous training program in dance technique, classical North Indian music, etiquette, history and philosophy of Indian art and culture.  CYDC has performed at prestigious festivals and venues, such as Davies Symphony Hall with the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Ballet, the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, Chicago International Kathak Festival, Youth Fest at ODC Theatre, and the National Center for Performing Arts in Mumbai, India.  

CYDC members are also advocates and rising young leaders in the arts - they participate in mentorship programs, community events and services, and in raising awareness overall about the rich tradition of Kathak and classical Indian art.
