According to the Brahmanda Purana, Ahobilam is the Avatara Sthala of Bhaghavan Narasimha, and it is a Kruthayuga Kshetra. It is one of the 108 Sri Vaishnava Divya Desams. Sri Thirumangai Alwar, one of the Alwars who lived in the 8th century AD, composed ten Pasurams on Ahobilam. The rulers of many ancient and medieval kingdoms contributed a lot to the prosperity of Ahobilam. This Kshetram also witnessed the invasions, and every time it hard to tried get back its past glory. Source: https://ahobilamtemple.com/ahobilam/about/2 This is my third visit to Ahobilam, a very sacred pilgrimage spot in Andra pradesh. The small town, its temples, and the abundant natural sceneries are an absolute treat for anyone who visits this place. Be sure to hire a guide if you are visiting for the first time, as you get to learn the mythology of the origin Lord Narasimha, and to ensure that you visit all the nine Nava Narasimha temples. You also get to see learn how each mythological episode is linked with the various spots across the Nallamalla forest and the eastern ghat mountain range around this villages. Be sure to ask for guide Subbaiah (the one on the video), he is one of the senior most and sought-after guides in Ahobilam. A native of the town he has seen the whole landscape evolve, and can give you a very detailed narrative on the mythology, history and significance of each temple.
