Scaler 2.7 Changelog
• New features
Add live-sync ability to keep other Scaler instances synchronised in realtime. Section C will now Live Sync across all instances of Scaler in a session. Choose one as the ‘Leader’ and the rest will become a ‘Follower’. Great for keeping all Scalers doing different things (bass mode, melody mode, performances etc) and retaining their individual settings (quantise, key lock, voice grouping etc) but all responding the chord changes in the progression builder of the ‘Leader’ - I think this is a killer feature!
Add new modes for parallel harmony to generate progressions by thirds, fourths, and fifths. Automatically generate chord progression moving in major and minor thirds, fourths and fifths based on one Chord. Excellent for coming up with unique chord movements.
Add auto-play in browser (Section A) to enable quick preview of chord sets. Now you can cycle through all chord sets (artist, genres, scales) and Scaler will automatically and quickly play through them (preview) as you scroll through different chord sets
Add Multi-Voice-Output (Multi Midi Out) option to split each note of chords onto separate channels. Scaler can now perform divisi by splitting notes of a chord across multiple midi channels. Entire chord plays through on Midi Channel 1 and Midi Channel two plays first voice and so on. So C Major (C/E/G) will play as follows: Midi Channel 1 - Entire Chord Midi Channel 2 - C Midi Channel 3 - E Midi Channel 4 - G There will be a chord set category designed to work well with this (Orchestral Divisi Chord Sets)
Add Global UI Velocity controls to change the strength of MIDI notes played through the interface. Users can now define the loudness of all chords triggered on the Scaler UI. Like a volume button, many users complained about how it would always sound loud as opposed to being triggered via midi.
Add ability to consolidate chords from multiple patterns into a single chord set file. Multiple patterns can now be saved as one chord progression
• New Content
There is going to be lots of nice new chord sets, performances, phrases and sequences plus two new sounds.:
Sequence ‘Moods’.
80s, Classical, HipHop, LoFi Chord Sets.
Fixed Bass Chord Sets (Triad and Extended).
Orchestral Divisi Chord Sets (Intended to work with Multi Midi Out).
Experimental Phrases
Experimental Performances
Internal Orchestral Bass Instrument
Internal LoFi Instrument
• Improvements
Make undo/redo buttons always visible in Section C.
Clear Undo/Redo history when clearing state or when importing a state file.
Fix Daw-Sync timing causing playback to start early in Cubase.
Fix Play-Quantize offset calculation.
Remember the last selected scale on circle of fifths in the Voicing Editor.
