Afghanistan hit by seventh earthquake in eight days

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake has struck western Afghanistan, just over a week after powerful quakes and aftershocks killed thousands of people and flattened villages in the same region.

Emergency relief teams in Herat province said one person had died and nearly 150 others had been injured. The earthquakes on 7 October were among the most destructive in the country’s recent history.
