Linux Mint is one of
Linux Mint is one of the Best Linux Distros out there in terms of Usability, Flexibility and Stability whereas GNOME is one of the Popular Desktop Environment in terms of Minimalism, Style and Aesthetics. In this Video we'll install GNOME Desktop on Linux Mint 21.2 XFCE Edition..Hope you enjoy it..
Commands Used Here per Step:
1. Update Linux Mint
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y
2. Install GNOME Desktop
sudo apt update
sudo apt install vanilla-gnome-desktop -y
(select gdm as default Window Manager during installation)
3. Remove Mint Desktop Components & Unneccessary Apps
sudo apt remove xfce -y (put asterisk before and after xfce)
sudo apt remove ubuntu-session aisleriot gnome-sudoku gnome-mahjongg gnome-mines compizconfig-settings-manager menulibre totem -y
(either these apps are unneccessary or having another better alternative installed)
4. Fix system
sudo systemctl unmask ubuntu-system-adjustments.service
sudo apt update
sudo apt install ubuntu-system-adjustments -y
sudo systemctl enable ubuntu-system-adjustments.service
5. Install components
sudo apt install firefox mintdrivers -y
Install GNOME Extenstions from firefox
User Themes, Removable Drive Menu, Sound Input & Output Device Chooser
6. System Cleanup
sudo apt autoremove -y && sudo apt autoclean -y
