Thumri in Khamaj by Abira Mukherjee: Maad Ke Bharey Tore Nain

Abira is a versatile singer of Hindustani Classical, specializing in Khayal and Benaras Gharana, Purab-Ang style Semi-Classicals like Thumri, Kajri, Dadra, Chaiti, Hori and Bhajans. Her Benaras Gharana Purab-Ang style was shaped by Guru Vidushi Purnima Chaudhuri, with advises and blessings from Thumri legend, Padma Vibhusan, Vidushi Girija Devi. She is presently going through “riyaz” under Vidhushi Subhra Guha and Pandit Debashis Dey (Banaras). She began her classical music training from Smt. Chandana Chakraborty, wife of Pandit Ajay Chakraborty. She was under the tutelage of Pandit Sreekant Bakre, thus being a second-generation disciple of the legendary Ustad Amir Khan. Her skills were further honed by Shri Sandip Ghosh, and Smt. Aditi Bhattacharya. Her forte in Nazrul Geeti grew under the guidance of Shri. Biman Mukhopadhay.

Abira has performed at several concerts in India, including the Pt. Vijay Kichlu Music Conference, Subhah-e-Banaras, VSK Baithaki Thumri Utsav, Chowdhury House Music Conference along with numerous appearances in performances in India, USA and Canada. She is the winner of 2013 Tansen Sangeet Pratijyogita in Semi-Classical group, and also awarded the Jadubhatta Award in 2019
