A quick video comparison with the Dimarzio DP419 and DP416 Area 67 and 61 and the DP181 Fast Track 1 pickups. '67 is in the neck, '61 is in the middle, and the Fast Track 1 is in both positions in the second comparison. Areas start at 0:07 clean and 0:51 distorted, and Fast Track 1s at 1:34 clean and 2:23 distorted.
The amp used was a Mesa Roadster, with a SM57 a half inch off the grill of a V30-loaded 4x12. Clean tone was Channel 1 Fat, Master 11 o'clock, Presence 2 o'clock, Bass 10 o'clock, Mids 10 o'clock, and Gain 1 o'clock. Distorted tone was Ch 3 Vintage, Master just over noon, Presence 10 o'clock, Bass off, Mids 1 o clock, Treble noon, and Gain just over 1 o'clock. A Line6 DL4 was in the loop for the distorted sounds, and the Ouptut was about nine thirty. I have EL34s in the poweramp.
There's obviously a bit of a volume difference between the two sets of pickups, which given the clean settings I used manifests itself mostly as a bit of added fatness. A slightly cleaner preamp sound seems to work better here. I'll try to do more of a "song" sort of demo with the amp dialed in better for how they're voiced, as well.
