I know I was initially going to release this video on Friday now that my exams are over, but I had to delay it today due to time constraints and to take time to edit the sound design before the final release.
Anyway, I have now reached 400 subscribers on YouTube! I wanted to do a special for reaching this milestone, so I decided to do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time: Remaster the most iconic Sonic fan-film out there: Sonic Nazo Unleashed. It’s a Newgrounds film heavily based on Dragon Ball Z and has an art-style relative to that of Sonic X, which is pretty cool. That said, it still goes without saying that the original version, even after it got remastered, is very outdated. There are many outdated sound effects and voice clips, coming from the PC versions of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes, with a limited selection of Sonic Adventure 2 voice clips which were recorded from cutscenes, since the voice clips weren’t extracted at the time that the film was in production. So, I decided to give the entire film a complete overhaul with updated voice clips and sound effects, as well as an updated soundtrack. The old soundtrack had a lot of cool themes, but the way they were put together made it sound forced and unfitting. Other small content creators have done remasters of the same film with DBZ Faulconer score, making the whole film sound much more natural. I decided to mix the original soundtrack and the DBZ Faulconer score to make it sound more natural but throw in my own ideas for the soundtrack to make it unique. It took me weeks to make and finish this after finding a download for the film on Internet Archive, and I used up to 260 voice clips from various Dreamcast Era Sonic games and put them together, which sounds much nicer now. I also did edit some scenes of the film to make them have more ‘personality’ as well, also to do more than just a simple sound overhaul. I also initially planned to release this on only my gaming channel, but since it has little to no views and few subscribers, and since I haven’t uploaded on my main channel as often due to working on this and studying for my exams for the past few weeks, I decided that it’s only right to make it worth it and release it here too. Nonetheless, I hope that you enjoy this sound remaster of Sonic Nazo Unleashed.
