Top 5 Dhoni moments in IPL History | CSK best moments | Dhoni best and angry

5. During the 20th over of Kolkata’s innings, Joginder Sharma bowled a fine yorker to Laxmi Ratan Shukla, when the score was 145-8. As only a couple of bowls were left, the non striker, Ishant Sharma ran for the bye, when Shukla failed to connect on the leg stump yorker. Shukla though, was never interested in the run. Both the batsmen ended up at the same ends and the ball was with Joginder Sharma, who just needed to remove the bails. But then, Dhoni signaled something to Sharma and asked him to not take the bails off. Poor Shukla, not knowing a thing, walked out of his crease to speak to his partner as he was walking off to the pavilion. As soon as Shukla left his crease, Dhoni asked Joginder to take the bails off and he did that. By the virtue of being out of the crease and in the opposite direction of the bowler, Shukla was run out, and not Ishant. Ishant had already got inside the batting crease till then, while Shulka was nowhere. This was a great move as Shukla could have hit a boundary on the last ball, which could have made a difference.

4. In what he considered to be one of his greatest IPL innings, Mahi took his team home against SRH in the most unlikeliest of circumstances. With all of CSK’s big guns gone, Dhoni found himself needing to score the remaining 30 runs of 16 balls to take his team home. Mahi scored 67 off just 37 balls that night, and was brutal on the fearsome Dale Steyn. Dhoni smashed him for a six and a four in the penultimate over, including an incredible forearm smash for six.
Reddy had to defend 15 runs in the final over, but hardly stood a chance against MS Dhoni who knocked off the runs with two balls to spare.

3. It was a big game. It was a knockout game. In terms of stats, 2012 was Dhoni’s worst year at the IPL. But cometh the hour cometh the man is an adage that the CSK captain embodies almost every single time. Dhoni walked to the middle after CSK were reduced to 95 for three in the 14th over, having lost their first two wickets in the second over for a single run on the board. The Chennai-based franchise clobbered 92 in the remaining 6.4 overs thanks largely to Dhoni, who managed 51* in just 20 balls at a strike-rate of 255. There were three consecutive fours off Dhawal Kulkarni, the man who had pegged CSK back early on. There was the trademark helicopter shot that went for six against none other than Lasith Malinga who usually delivers the perfect yorker. A length delivery from James Franklin was sent into orbit, 112 meters the distance. CSK won the game by 38 runs.

2. During the IPL 2010 final between CSK and MI. Kieron Pollard was going all guns blazing and was threatening to take the game away from CSK. That is when MS Dhoni decided to play to Pollard's strength, which is hitting powerfully down the ground. He placed Matthew Hayden at a straightish mid-off position, next to the bowler, along with a regular long-off fielder as well. Apart from being a strategic and a rather unusual position the decision to place the 6' 2" Hayden at that position was also a smart one as hitting it over him would have been difficult. Albie Morkel bowled it as per the field and Pollard fell into the trap, hitting it straight into those bucket-like hands of Hayden. The incredulous CSK players ran towards MS Dhoni in joy, but for him, it was just another well-executed strategy.

1. A lot of Dhoni fans remember this innings crystal clear. It was one of the rare games that witnessed an emotional Dhoni as he helped CSK win an improbable game and make it to the semi-final, showing a lot of emotions on the way. KXIP had posted a massive target of 192 at Dharamsala, and CSK were behind the eight ball even after managing 89 for three in the 10th over. But Dhoni then smacked an unbeaten 54 in just 29 balls with five fours and two sixes, with the last 47 runs coming in just 18 balls, to steal the win for his team. Irfan Pathan was the biggest casualty at the hands of Man of the Match Dhoni; the Baroda pacer was clobbered for 18 runs including two massive sixes to take CSK home.
