Wages grew at the fastest pace on record in the September quarter due to big pay boosts for aged care staff and workers on awards. Private sector employees are taking home more than government staff, but even though some salaries have ticked up real wages continue to go backwards because of the soaring cost of living. Inflation is still higher than wages growth.  The quarterly WPI data came in line with economist expectations and shouldn't increase pressure on the Reserve Bank to increase interest rates.
