USB-C cable teardown close look at  USB-C Cable from Ikea for Android that was damaged with regular phone charging use.

Cable made by IKEA,  USB Type-A Female to USB Type-C USB 2.0 for charging usb-c devices.
The cable lasted pretty good and there were no tears on it but it started doing really slow charging probably due to one or both damaged data cables.

I made this into a USB Type-A Extension and USB-C  OTG cable from an old USB Type-C cable that had the USB-C connector broken.
Instead of recycling or throwing the old cable away I up cycle the cable into a USB-A extension cable that can be easily converted into a USB-A to USB-C OTG cable extension with a simple OTG adapter.

Make this cable from new connectors and wires or even better, you can reuse an old USB cable to make this.

Be careful with the USB pin-outs, make sure you get it right and not reversed. It's easy to be confused with USB connectors.

Connect a mouse to a tablet,
Connect a physical keyboard to your tablet, if you type a lot, this is really useful.
Most popular, connect a USB flash drive to access files on a phone or tablet.

One of the main reasons I was not seeing a tablet as a laptop replacement was being unable to quickly plug-in a USB flash storage drive. Now this works great.

To connect an external portable hard drive this won't work because the HDD needs more power.
