Sandalwood has an aroma that stretches out to the far reaches of the universe as well as deep into the Earth, uniting you with the divine that surrounds you. This sacred and holy tree has been revered throughout the ages for its aromatic heartwood which retains its fragrance of decades. This heartwood gifts a valuable essential oil which has been used for incense, perfumery, cosmetics and aromatherapy around the world. This tree is best known for its popularity in Indian culture where it appears in ancient religious texts, scents temples and is carved into deity statues. However due to overharvesting and the illegal trade in India diminishing its availability, Sandalwood is now often sourced from other places where it is native such as Australia, Fiji, Indonesia and Hawaii.
