The Maasai traditionally live in houses made from a form of wattle and daub, completely covered with dung from their herds of cattle.

Although traditions are rapidly changing, we found in a remote corner of the Maasai Mara one family who still live a completely traditional way of life. The house is divided into compartments and each has a special purpose, one for calves, one for lambs, one for kids and one for their own children. All focusses on a single hearth which the woman of the house will keep tended.
