Dakota Semler and Giordano Sordoni, the 27-year-old cofounders of Xos Trucks, created the company to help commercial fleets transition from diesel to zero-emission electric delivery vehicles with the same performance but lower operating costs. Their bootstrapped startup began road-testing the ET-One electric semi-truck in 2018 and a Class-6 delivery vehicle prototype that will haul loads for UPS. They're also developing electrified armored cars for specialty vehicle maker Loomis.
Semler, CEO of Xos, sat down with Forbes Deputy Editor Kirstin Stoller to talk about why he cofounded Xos and the difficulties his team has faced building the company.
