Roof, floor, medial and lateral walls, anterior and posterior walls.

it is located within the petrous part of temporal bone.

Boundaries of middle ear cavity:
Roof: Tegmen tympani - a thin plate of bone which seperates the middle ear from the temporal lobe of brain.
Anterior wall: Internal carotid artery canal,
Canal for tensor tympani muscle,
tympanic opening of auditory tube
Posterior wall: Aditus to mastoid antrum, pyramidal eminence for stapedius muscle.
Lateral wall: Tympanic membrane- only wall which is made up of connective tissue membrane.
Medial wall: Promontory of tympanic cavity- projection from the cochlea.
Floor: Tympanic canaliculus and sigmoid sinus
