The decision comes after the crash which killed four defence personnel in Queensland during a military exercise, and other well-documented concerns about the aircraft's airworthiness.

Defence Minister Richard Marles confirmed on Friday morning the Taipans will not return to flying operations before their planned withdrawal date of December 2024.
