Introduced in November 2000 (and
Introduced in November 2000 (and used in tandem with the second theme starting in early 2001) and lasted until mid-2004. Although this was the first theme to be used, it was actually the second to be written, evidenced by its file name of 'music2'. Composed by Pete Johnson and Jason Page.
Funnily enough, one of the first discs to use this theme (OPS2M UK disc one, cover-dated December 2000) was released on 10 November 2000, a full two weeks before the PlayStation 2's official PAL release.
