Tirana / Albania the capital
Tirana / Albania the capital city of the of Albania has a population of around 512,000 people. Albania as a tourist destination is rather undeveloped yet the country has seen increased progress as a candidate to join the Euroean Union.
Tirana has a mix of architecture ranging form Ottoman-, Fascist- and Soviet-era buildings. The center of the city is the sprawling Skanderbeg Square with a statue of its national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu. The total area is about 40,000 square meters and that's where we start our tour.
Around the square are sites like the National History Museum and Et’hem Bey Mosque. We walks around the center of Tirana before we return to the square to end our walking tour.
