The following instructions serve as a guide for the correct performance of Agnihotra. Agnihotra is easy to perform and takes only about 10 minutes. For the Agnihotra, dried cow dung and ghee are burnt in a pyramid-shaped copper vessel. Exactly at sunrise and sunset, rice grains with clarified butter are given to the flames and Vedic sounds (mantras) are sung which are exactly in accord with the special vibrations at sunrise and sunset.
