The temporomandibular jaw joint or
The temporomandibular jaw joint or TMJ allows the mouth to both open and close. However, there are rare times when the mouth becomes locked in the open position due to a TMJ dislocation. This dislocation can be corrected by either of 2 methods… by yourself using a syringe (2:09) or by someone else who can do it for you (1:37).
Animation first goes over normal anatomy before going into how a TMJ dislocation occurs. Finally, the syringe method to reduce a TMJ dislocation is shown (2:09).
