In this video tutorial I will explain about using the Golden ratio in Photography. The Golden Ratio, also known as the Divine Proportion or Phi (φ), is a mathematical concept that has been used for centuries in art, architecture, and design to create aesthetically pleasing compositions. In photography, the Golden Ratio is a compositional rule that can help photographers create more interesting and balanced images.
The Golden Ratio is a ratio of approximately 1.618 to 1, and it is derived from the Fibonacci sequence, a series of numbers in which each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, etc.). The ratio can be found in many natural and man-made objects, such as shells, flowers, and buildings.
To apply the Golden Ratio in photography, you can imagine a grid that divides the image into thirds both horizontally and vertically, creating a tic-tac-toe-like pattern with nine equal rectangles. The key elements of the image, such as the subject or the points of interest, should be placed at or near the points where the lines intersect or along the lines themselves. This creates a more balanced and visually pleasing composition, with a sense of movement and depth.
It's important to note that the Golden Ratio is just one of many compositional rules in photography, and it doesn't guarantee a great shot on its own.
