Check the Sound Settings on Your iPad
Some iPads have a mute switch. To check and make sure that you have not switched yours on, swipe down from the top right corner of your screen. The bell icon mutes the iPad by putting it in Silent mode. Tap the Bell icon and then check to see if the sound works.

Why does my iPad suddenly have no sound?
Go to Settings - Sounds (or Settings - Sounds & Haptics), and drag the Ringer and Alerts slider back and forth a few times.
