21 July, 2021, Zhengzhou, Henan, China: At least 12 have died after massive #flooding overwhelmed #Zhengzhou, capital city of central #China's #Henan Province yesterday. Xinhua News Agency reported that nearly 450mm of rain fell in just two days, equal to the region's annual rainfall.
This led to terrifying videos being posted to China's social media, including footage taken inside a flooding subway train on the city's Line 5. Passengers inside the train seem calm as the water quickly rises, eventually reaching their shoulders.
Heavy rain is expected to continue until later today.
