The ONLY Ab Exercise You Really Need (BUILD YOUR 6-PACK!)

Subscribe to to my channel HERE 👇🏻 The Standing Ab wheel rollout is the Gold Standard of Abdominal Strength. In other words, if you can competently perform a perfect standing ab wheel rollout, you possess elite level abdominal strength. Note: you can do all the direct abdominal exercises in the world to try and get 6-pack abs, but if your nutrition is not on point, it doesn’t matter! So while the ab wheel will certainly strengthen your abs, make sure you’ve dialed in your diet to reveal your abs! No other direct abdominal exercises gives you more “value for time” than the ab wheel rollout either. So rather than wasting your precious training time doing endless cable cable crunches, flutter kicks, or side bends, just focus on the ab wheel! The best part? ANYONE of ANY ability level can start training the ab wheel right now! While you may not (yet) be strong enough to perform a proper standing ab wheel, building the requisite strength is actually easier than you think when you understand the process. Using the proper progression is key to gaining the requisite strength. Master the kneeling ab wheel roll out FIRST. If you’re a total beginner, you may want to perfor ab wheels up an incline initially, then graduate to kneeling ab wheels on the ground to a wall to control the distance. Once you can perform 12 perfect consecutive kneeling ab wheels, you’re (most likely) ready to start performing standing ab wheels with the ramp. It’s important to note that there’s a HUGE difference in the requisite strength between a kneeling ab wheel and a standing ab wheel, which is why we must use the ramp method to bridge that strength gap. THE RAMP METHOD Performing ab wheels up a ramp greatly increases your mechanical advantage allowing you to perform the movement from a standing position with full range of motion. Be sure to start with the ramp at a conservative height and GRADUALLY work your way down by lowering the angle of the ramp. Once you can competently perform 8 perfect ab wheels at the given ramp height (angle), you know you’re ready to progress to a lower height. Repeat this process until you can competently perform a perfect standing ab wheel roll out on the ground. Now, if you don’t have access to a wooden plank or ramp, the best alternative is the band-assisted ab wheel. Loop one end of a mini band (1inch/0.5inch) around an attachment point and the other end around the ab wheel. The accommodating resistance of the band gives you the most assistance at the end range of motion where you are the weakest. Essentially the band-assisted ab wheel allows you to train the standing ab wheel with full-range of motion. As you get stronger, move your starting point back closer to the attachment point to use less band assistance or simply use a thinner miniband. Note: Both of these progressions do take time, but with consistent practice it’s more than possible to get your first standing ab wheel. Be patient, enjoy the process, and build some incredibly strong abs along the way. Obviously, if you want to have visible abs, you’re going to need a good nutrition plan to follow as well.
